Hi, I’m Tessa Bechtold-Brown, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over a decade of experience specializing in trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and addiction treatment. I’m passionate about helping individuals and families move through challenges with compassion, clarity, and confidence. I’m the founder of Motivational Counseling, a group practice located in Cheektowaga, NY, dedicated to providing high-quality, client-centered care rooted in evidence-based practices. I am also a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), an international organization committed to promoting excellence in MI practice and training. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an adjunct professor in the Counseling, School, and Educational Psychology Department at the University at Buffalo and collaborate on statewide and national initiatives to expand the use of MI in healthcare and behavioral health settings. Whether I’m working with clients, training professionals, or supporting fellow clinicians, I believe that healing begins with genuine connection and collaborative conversation.
