Theannah R. Phillips, LICSW, MPA, MLS, is a warm and approachable trauma therapist, fitness girlie, wife, dog mom and owner of Talks with Teaa. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology with a minor in Forensic and Investigative Sciences, as well as Master’s degrees in Social Work, Law and Legal Studies, and Public Administration from West Virginia University. Her professional experience spans working with survivors of domestic violence, clients navigating substance use challenges, trauma survivors, first responders, veterans, and those involved in the forensic social work system. She is trained in crisis intervention procedures and has completed coursework at the Virginia DCJS Criminal Justice Academy, along with participating in ride-alongs with various jurisdictions to strengthen her cultural competence and understanding of first responder communities. As the spouse of a first responder, Theannah brings both professional expertise and personal insight into the unique challenges faced by those balancing demanding careers with family life. She has developed a strong passion for serving veterans and first responders, with a clinical focus on anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and relationship recovery. Her therapeutic style is grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and strength-based approaches, and is able to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) under supervision as she becomes fully trained. An advocate for an active and holistic lifestyle, Theannah aims to help clients find harmony between all parts of themselves. She primarily offers telehealth appointments, with limited in-person sessions available for local clients. Outside of the therapy room, she enjoys mentoring, speaking engagements, and collaborative partnerships that elevate mental health and well-being.
