Do you ever wonder why you do things the way you do? Why do certain things bother you? If so, I'd love to work with you to unravel the mystery of why. I work with individual clients as well as couples. I see biopc, lgbtq, poly couples. I specialize in CPTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic conditions, disability, attachment disorders, adhd, and autism. Most of my clients are neurodiverse and or lgbtq I utilize various approaches, and a session with me might involve me asking a lot of questions and encouraging you to say the quiet parts out loud to help you examine them. Therapy is not meant to be a quick fix. While I do use cognitive behavioral therapy, I also use emotionally focused therapy and family systems. My combination of therapy practices will take you from childhood life to today and help you figure out why you do things that you do and how you can look at yourself differently, or how we can incorporate behavioral modifications, etc. I often use workbooks, homework sheets, and other tools to fit each client's needs. While I like to use these tools, I'm not opposed to not using them at all if you're not into workbooks or homework. My individual sessions look different from my couples sessions. I try to let the individual client lead and talk as much as needed during the session. However, with couples clients, I am more direct and often interrupt, especially when teaching couples how to communicate and doing communication role plays. I often use things such as breathing, psychoeducation, grounding exercises, etc. A session with me might look like SO, what would you like to talk about today? Allowing the client to lead the session and take it in whatever direction they need. Over time, we build on previous sessions and draw out patterns from what was said and compare them to how the patterns were learned at various times in the client's life, then talk about how we can rethink or change the narrative.
