I work primarily with clients experiencing complex trauma, dissociative disorder, attachment injuries, as well as addictions, anxiety, and depression. I also work with couples for trauma-specific relationship work where both members of the partnership have trauma histories. Typical treatment will involve assessment of symptoms, creating a plan together, developing emotional regulation skills, building an understanding around attachment strategies and the nervous system as they relate to safety/danger, reprocessing traumatic or unresolved memories, and reintegrating parts of consciousness that were once segregated sites of distress. Oftentimes, generalized symptoms of anger, anxiety or depression that seem to have no particular origin can be traced back to past unresolved or traumatic experiences. My approach is both solutions focused (forward looking) and psychodynamic (backward looking), each one incrementally reinforcing the other, while revealing strengths and building resilience. The modalities/theories most robustly applied in my practice are EMDR, Polyvagal, and Attachment. I am EMDRIA certified to conduct both traditional and intensive formats of treatment. I also rely on IFS, somatic psychology, theories of dissociative disorders, the neurobiology of trauma, CBT/DBT, and Buddhist-informed practices to assist clients.
