Welcome to my practice! I am so excited to meet you. My legal name is Vanessa Robertson, that is how you can find my licensure information. However, please call my River. It fits me better. I strongly hold to the fact that my patients hold the answer to their difficulties within themselves, and my job is to help them bring those answers to full consciousness. I am committed to the value of calling people what they ask to be called and respecting all family and romantic configurations. You are welcome to bring calm, well-trained, house-broken dogs to most in person appointments so long as they enhance the therapeutic environment rather than detracting from it. I use a combination of evidence-based therapeutic methods. The combination we use together will depend on your diagnosis and goals. I tend to incorporate DBT with everyone because I think we can all use DBT skills to get through life's struggles. I also use clinical hypnosis, ego state therapy, EMDR, and prolonged exposure therapy depending on what is most appropriate for each individual client. I enjoy walking with folks through life’s difficulties and helping them build a life that is full of joy and connection. I am particularly passionate about helping survivors of trauma. My main focus of study is the treatment of dissociative disorders. I take patients 18 and older, and I take most major insurance providers.
