Introduction

Virginia began her counseling career in 2018, working with adolescents, adults, and couples in a private practice setting. Virginia has also provided group counseling in a PHP setting as well as a local ministry setting. Virginia works with many nurses and teachers in navigating stress, communication and boundary setting to establish self-care. Areas in Virginia’s scope of practice include anxiety, OCD, depression, self-harm, grief, chronic pain, career/vocational counseling, self-image/esteem, and marriage relationships. Virginia considers counseling a process that may be necessary during challenging times in life. This process may involve fixing faulty beliefs, adjusting behaviors, or sometimes learning how to suffer well. Virginia primarily counsels using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), however, an eclectic approach may be used to meet a client’s specific needs. CBT’s aim is to help clients recognize and change irrational beliefs, in order to experience emotional and/or behavioral change. Virginia’s education focused on an integrated theoretical approach and the intersection of counseling theories with Biblical principles. Upon request, she is able to provide counseling from a Biblical worldview. Virginia has been married to her husband since 2016 and has two labradoodles. Virginia loves the Outer Banks or local trails, learning about new cultures, sewing and water color. She looks forward to walking alongside you during this part of your life story.
