I view counseling as a collaborative process that creates space to pause and reflect—to better understand your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, experiences, and the ways they shape how you respond to life. Sometimes that means identifying and changing unhelpful patterns; other times, circumstances cannot be changed and counseling involves learning how to suffer well. My goal is to understand what matters to you and walk alongside you as you work toward meaningful change. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps us examine the connections between thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. I also draw from other approaches based on each client’s needs, including EMDR and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). For clients who desire it, I am glad to incorporate faith and a biblical worldview into counseling. I began my counseling career in 2018 and enjoy working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, chronic pain, and spiritual questions. I work with people across a variety of life stages, professions, and cultural backgrounds and provide individual, premarital, and marriage counseling. Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two labradoodles, visiting the Outer Banks, learning about new cultures, and watercolor. I look forward to walking alongside you during this part of your story. Why Selah? Selah is a word found throughout the Psalms, often understood as an invitation to pause and reflect or pause and praise. It captures the heart behind Selah Counseling Services: creating space to slow down, consider what is happening within and around you, practice gratitude, endure what cannot be changed, and thoughtfully respond.
