Introduction

Whitney Whelan is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist. She obtained her bachelors degree in Psychology and Child Development from Texas Christian University. Whitney is a certified Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner from the TCU Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development, world renowned program for developmental trauma intervention. Whitney was a camp leader and parent trainer at the TCU Hope Connection Camp (therapeutic, summer day camp for internationally adopted children). Whitney obtained her Masters of Education in Counseling from TCU. She spent her early days counseling at The Art Station and an elementary school in Fort Worth. Whitney was an intern and part time counselor at The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (working with children who were victims of violent crimes in Dallas, primarily sexual abuse). Whitney then became the Children’s Clinical Director at Nexus Recovery Center where she worked to create a trauma informed childcare center and children’s counseling center. Whitney counseled children at Nexus as well as lead parenting groups for the mothers seeking addiction treatment. Whitney is a proud mom of three (two bio children and one step child). In her free time, Whitney loves gardening, thrifting, learning, & art projects. Whitney specializes in expressive art techniques in counseling. Whitney enjoys working with all ages and will work with you to help you achieve your therapy goals.
