My name is Whitney Williams. I have worked in the field of psychology since the age of 18. I began my journey working as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Geriatric Seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia. It was here that my passion for Psychology began. I obtained my Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2012 from Jacksonville University and immediately accepted a position as a Mental Health Technician. I continued this work for 8 years. During that time period, I gained experience with many different client populations, including Geriatric, Adults, Children/Adolescents, in Residential, Inpatient, and Outpatient. I also have experience working with community health population including case work with the Department of Children and Families, as well as both, the Florida Department of Juvenile Corrections and the Florida Department of Corrections with Adults. My vast experiences have allowed me the opportunity to truly see the clients I served in every facet of their lives. I truly appreciated being able to care for my clients when they were at their lowest, and witnessing them when they reach their treatment goals. After 6 years of working as a Mental Health Tech, I decided to further my degree, so that I could reach my clients in a clinical capacity. I saw the need for Mental Health Therapist, and realized that my natural personality allowed those around me to feel safe enough to share their most intimate struggles, without fear of judgement. I pursued my Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling at Webster University from 2018-2020. I worked closely with other Licensed Mental Health Counselors in the field, learning how to provide therapy in several areas including Individual, Group, Family, and Couples. Upon graduating in 2020, I began officially working as a Registered Mental Health Clinical Intern, at which time I interned under a Qualified Supervisor who had over 25 years experience in the field. I completed my Clinical Internship in 2023 and became Licensed in 2024. As a Mental Health Therapist, I have continued working with the same client populations that I began my journey with. I recognize the need for Mental Health Services in our community and I am committed to doing my best to provide superior service filled with Harmony and Grace. After obtaining licensure, I have continued my education in specific specialty areas that many of us deal with today, including, Grief, Trauma & Shame, Anxiety, ADHD, Personality Disorders, and Binge Eating & Chronic Dieting. It is my belief that in order to effectively treat my clients, I need to stay up to date with the latest Evidenced Based Treatment Techniques & Procedures.
