I’m William Irving, LCMHCA, NCC, a Marine Corps veteran and retired law enforcement officer. My own experiences in military service and public safety shaped my decision to enter the counseling profession and gave me a firsthand understanding of the pressures that can come with high-stress careers, major life transitions, and carrying experiences that are difficult to leave at work. I work primarily with veterans, first responders, men, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, identity changes, and life transitions. My approach is practical, straightforward, and collaborative. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and trauma-informed approaches while tailoring treatment to the individual rather than forcing everyone into the same mold. My goal is to provide a space where you can be honest about what is going on without feeling judged or like you have to have the right words. Counseling is not just about talking through what happened—it is about understanding what is keeping you stuck, identifying what you can control, and developing practical tools to help you move forward. At AfterAction Counseling, the idea is simple: **debrief what happened, learn from it, and determine what comes next.**
