Introduction

About Dr. William Waters, PsyD I’m Dr. William Waters, a licensed psychologist in Washington State and the founder of Peak Potential Psychology, PLLC. For more than 20 years, I’ve worked across clinical, counseling, forensic, and leadership roles, helping people move through anxiety, trauma, ADHD concerns, identity questions, and major life transitions. My work is centered on evidence-based approaches and a genuine belief in people’s capacity to grow, adapt, and heal. What It’s Like to Work with Me My clients are often high-functioning but internally overwhelmed—feeling stuck, uncertain, or like something isn’t quite aligning in their lives. Many are navigating anxiety, trauma, ADHD symptoms, identity changes, relationship shifts, or simply the weight of carrying too much for too long. They come to therapy looking for a space that feels steady, thoughtful, and real—where they can speak freely, feel understood, and work toward the kind of change that lasts. In our work together, I use a blend of cognitive-behavioral therapy, schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma-informed care. I tailor the process to each person, balancing structure with flexibility so we can build clarity, insight, and sustainable growth at a pace that feels right for you. Therapy can feel uncertain at first—especially if you’ve tried before or felt misunderstood. My goal is to create a space that is warm, grounded, and collaborative. If you’re ready to look more closely at what’s happening beneath the surface and take steps toward meaningful change, I’d be honored to support you. You don’t have to sort it all out alone. Education & Credentials - Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) – Spalding University - Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology – Spalding University - Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honors) – University of Queensland - Licensed Psychologist, Washington State — License #PY 60704307 Professional Background I’ve provided therapy and assessment in a wide range of settings, including community clinics, inpatient units, and forensic environments. My experience includes: - Treating individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use challenges - Conducting ADHD assessments for adults - Completing forensic evaluations such as competency to stand trial and risk assessments - Leading teams of mental health professionals and managing bereavement and support services This diversity of experience helps me bring a steady, informed perspective to the work we do together. Commitment to Inclusivity I am deeply committed to providing an affirming and respectful space for people from all backgrounds and identities. I have extensive experience supporting: - LGBTQIA+ individuals - People in polyamorous or non-traditional relationships - Individuals exploring identity development - People with differing abilities and accessibility needs Everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, respected, and supported—without judgment. Research & Contributions My research has focused on how people cope with stress and cultivate resilience. My doctoral dissertation explored how individuals make choices during difficult situations, contributing to positive psychology and psychological flexibility research. I’ve also presented work on mindfulness, multicultural competence, and wellbeing at professional conferences. My Approach & Philosophy I believe that every person has the capacity to heal and reconnect with a more grounded, fulfilling version of themselves. My work integrates mind, body, and values—supporting resilience, insight, and meaningful change. My goal is to help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface so you can make choices that align with who you want to be. If you feel ready to begin, I encourage you to start with a free 15-minute consultation to see whether we’re a good fit.
