I am a bicultural and bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) psychotherapist. I was born and raised in New York City. My parents are hard-working, warm-hearted and lively spirited immigrants from Puerto Rico. I knew I wanted to be a therapist at the age of 14 since I was always trying to help friends with their problems. As an adult, I spent many years as a Social Worker and Psychotherapist providing social services and mental health treatment in English and Spanish to underserved communities. I help clients gain insight into themselves to improve their relationships with others, feel better about themselves and achieve their goals. Clients come feeling stuck, frustrated, sad, confused and overwhelmed. I guide them towards clarity, momentum and peace. I also use spiritually informed therapy with those who want to incorporate that into their journey. I use a directive approach that incorporates humor, gentle confrontation and client empowerment. Basically, a cross between a cheerleader and a drill sergeant. Clients have shared that they appreciate my ability to make them laugh in hard times, and find hope, joy and light in darkness. Also, I love dancing to salsa and 90s hip hop music and going to the beach so that explains the palm trees.
